Summer Ochre Court Proposal | Ryan + Caroline

Ryan’s Ochre Court proposal to Caroline was so sweet and heartfelt. Knowing the importance of her close relationship with her best friends, he arranged for them to fly across the country to witness the proposal! The weather almost threw a wrench in our plans because the forecast was rain for most of the day. After furiously checking the weather, we managed to squeeze the proposal in about an hour before her friends had to fly back! Not only was Caroline overjoyed when Ryan asked her to marry him, but her joy and surprise was definitely made complete when her friends came out of hiding to congratulate them!

Tips for a Surprise Engagement at Ochre Court

Ochre Court is a beautiful place for a surprise engagement in Newport! What I love most about it is that is has all the mansion vibes…without the mansion cost. Photographing at other Newport mansions, by contrast, requires special permission and carries a hefty price tag. Ochre Court on the other hand, is free and accessible to the public. Parking is conveniently available on Webster Street, adjacent to the property.

Though the grounds are open to the public, it is important to remember that Ochre Court is private property. As the administration building for Salve Regina University, Ochre Court occasionally functions as a venue for events and weddings. For this reason, it is advisable to call ahead and make sure that there aren’t any events scheduled at the time of your proposal. This is a little extra work, but well worth the effort because it ensures your proposal plans won’t be interrupted by an unforeseen event.
