What to Expect from Your Rhode Island Proposal Photographer
I take my job as a Rhode Island proposal photographer very seriously. I even have two cameras on and ready to go for each proposal! This is because I realize you’re entrusting me with a once-in-a-lifetime moment. I only get one opportunity to capture the magic. This is the reason I place such an emphasis on being prepared and planning together in advance.
After you book me as your Newport, RI proposal photographer, we will meet up at the location at which you plan to propose (either virtually or in person). We will go over how and where you will be proposing, so that we can work together to find a good angle. This enables me to photograph your moment while still remaining out of sight.
We’ll be in touch up to the day of the proposal to make sure things run smoothly. Then, we’ll meet and capture that special moment. After allowing for you and your loved one to enjoy that sweet moment together, you have the option to do a little mini session where we take some posed shots of you, your fiancé and the ring!
What Time of Day is Best for a Newport RI Proposal?
From a photographer’s point of view, the best time of day for a proposal, especially a proposal on the beach, is golden hour – the hour after sunrise or the hour before sunset. At this time, the light is soft, romantic and beautiful and you’ll avoid harsh shadows on the face and body. Check out these two proposals and see the difference for yourself!
Photographing proposals at other times of day is possible, but if you do, I recommend choosing a proposal location with access to shade so we can take your portraits in even lighting. I’m a local, so this is something I can help you with!

Tips for Scheduling Your RI Proposal
I work with gentlemen from all around the country, most of whom aren’t familiar with Rhode Island weather! You never know what you’re going to get around here – it could be hot and sunny one day and cold and rainy the next and the forecasts aren’t always reliable.
That’s why I encourage my clients to plan a little flexibility into their trip to Rhode Island and their Newport proposal plans. If you’re visiting from out of town, give yourself a couple days or times when you might be able to fit in the proposal. I purposefully work with a limited number of clients in any given month so that I can give my clients a great experience and so we can make the best of the weather!
