You might not know this, but we photographers tend to go a little gaga over new equipment! While I am primarily a natural-light, outdoor portrait and headshot photographer, I couldn’t resist the free portable studio backdrop someone recently offered me. I don’t know about you, but I love free things! I also loved it because it was a simple, clean backdrop. Simple backdrops like this one showcase a person’s personality, making it perfect for professional headshot photos and branding photography.

This weekend my husband and I put it through its paces and had a good time taking some traditional headshot photos and some fun ones. Because photography should be fun, of course! It was a little weird for me to be on the other side of the camera for a change, though. I felt uncomfortable and awkward at first! But soon enough we were laughing and having a good time. So there’s a bit of encouragement for you : you’re not the only one who feel uncomfortable in front of the camera. Even your photographer does too! But the good news is, it’ll pass and you will totally rock your next headshot photo session.
