Sunset Proposal in Newport | Alex + Clare

Through a mutual love of God and sailing, Alex and Clare built a strong and beautiful relationship. Early on, both Alex and Clare knew that this relationship was something special. In fact, when I asked Clare when she knew Alex was “the one,” she said she knew even before they started dating – which was over four and a half years ago! For Alex, he knew Clare was the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with because of her wholesome and pure character and strong faith. Alex’s sunset proposal in Newport was a beautiful culmination (or new beginning!) of the relationship they have built so far.

Alex settled on the Castle Hill Lighthouse as the location for his proposal to Clare in the hopes that they would be able to watch the sailing race that was coming into town. Unfortunately, torrential rain was forecasted for the original proposal date and we had to bump up the timeline a bit. So, no sailboat races, but we were surprised with a different kind of boating experience! Seeing Alex’s proposal from afar, the passengers and crew of the Gansett started cheering so loudly for the newly engaged couple that we could hear them from the lighthouse! It made the special moment even more so.
