Surprise Proposal at Colt State Park | Andrew + Jess
When I first spoke with Andrew, he told me he was “not a romantic person,” but that he wanted to try to do something special for Jess to start off the rest of our lives.” So we planned for a surprise proposal at Colt State Park in Bristol, Rhode Island. The session was disguised as a “fall family session” with their dog Max.
The couple arrived at Colt State Park bright and early – just a few minutes after sunrise. (Side note: I’m always impressed when clients want to do sunrise sessions because sunrise is EARLY. Extra kudos to these lovely people because they woke up around 5 and drove all the way down from North Smithfield!) To top it off, it was COLD!
But that didn’t stop Andrew and Jess from getting engaged! We started off with some family photos by the bridge. Then, after a certain cue Andrew gave Max to their Official Dog Holder, Becca, and he dug the ring out of their dog toy bag. Surprisingly, Jess hadn’t found it in the bag – and nor had she found it in Andrew’s tool box months earlier! So she was very surprised when shortly there after he got down on one knee!
Everything went perfectly and Jess loved the ring, a simple but elegant diamond. Afterward we enjoyed more portrait time at the park, utilizing the various natural settings Colt State Park had to offer!
