Charter Boat Proposal Newport | Luke + Jess

Choosing Newport as the location for his charter boat proposal to Jess was easy – it was the location of their first date! Planning out the rest of the details took a little more work. Luke knew that he wanted to make this day extra special for Jess and also to share it with the people they love the most, so he planned the day with great detail and care.

After considering a few ideas, Luke decided on a charter boat proposal followed by a reception at 41 North in Newport where they could celebrate with family and friends. As the planning unfolded, Luke’s proposal became more and more elaborate and I could tell just how much he cared for Jess. When I asked him what he loved most about her, he said that he loved “her smile, pure heart, and focus on family” as well as her “bubbly, thoughtful, considerate, and observant personality.”

On the day of the proposal, Luke felt inspired by the love story of Jacob and Rebecca in Genesis 29. He knew, like Jacob, that God had brought them together in this relationship and so it was with this passage that he started his proposal to Jess. When he finally took a knee on the charter boat, Jess was completely surprised but she said yes! Little did she know that was just the beginning of the surprises!

The charter boat docked at 41 North amidst the cheers of onlooking family waving sparklers to greet the newly engaged couple. Many hugs followed and Jess was crowned with a garland of flowers as she headed to the restaurant. She was soon whisked away to a special room to another surprise – several dresses to try on for the festivities and an entourage of friends and family to help her with hair and makeup! She emerged to a crowd of family and friends cheering her on.

After family portraits, the couple participated in a ring ceremony where their priests prayed over them a prayer of blessing. It was a beautiful beginning to new season in their relationship and a reminder of the good things God is doing in their lives.
