Extended Family Photoshoot | The Castro’s
From the first time I spoke with the Castro Family, I knew I was going to like them! One of the Castro sons contacted me just before Christmas. He was looking to give his family a different sort of Christmas present this year. Instead of buying something, he wanted to gift his parents, especially his mom, an experience. So he decided to surprise her with a photography experience! So we planned an extended family photoshoot while his family was in Newport for Christmas. It would be the first time in a long time that the whole family would be together. I thought it was such a special idea!
When we planned the extended family photoshoot, the Castro’s wanted a location with natural, nautical, and Christmas vibes. Sachuest Beach in Middletown, RI turned out to be just the place! Every year, for the past ten years, someone donates a tree to put up on the shoreline. Visitors to the beach come and decorate the tree and take pictures. It was the perfect backdrop for their festive family pictures.
On the day of our session, we met up at Surfer’s End of Sachuest Beach. It was cold! Freezing, actually. But the Castro’s brought the party with them and we had a great time. I loved seeing the connection this family had with each other. They certainly lived up to their self-description of funny, loud, and warm. I was sad that the cold weather cut our time short!
Dear Castro Family, I hope that you will enjoy your time together as you celebrate Christmas in Newport this year. I also hope that these photos will remind you of the love and joy you share as a family. I hope I will see you again – Merry Christmas!
