Gurney’s Newport Surprise Proposal | Kevin + Rebecca

It was their first time in Newport but I’m guessing they’ll never forget this trip…because it’s the one where they got engaged! After meeting in high school and dating for seven years, Kevin knew he had a kind and supportive lady in his corner. And he also knew it was time to ask her to make it a forever thing! So Kevin planned a surprise proposal at the hotel they were staying at: the Gurney’s Newport.

Kevin knew he wanted this moment photographed, so he staged a sunrise portrait session outside the hotel. Sunrise is a beautiful time for portraits (it’s the other golden hour) but it’s well, early! Some time around 6 am, actually. So I was impressed that he got her to agree! But she did and it was definitely worth it because the light was great and he didn’t have to worry about hiding the ring any longer!

Also, he couldn’t have picked a more lovely spot for his proposal. Right on the water, in front of the lighthouse by the Gurney’s Newport hotel, and surrounded by the soft light of sunrise Kevin asked Rebecca to be his wife. And she said yes! It was a beautiful proposal, resulting in a quiet and gentle joy that radiated from the happy couple.
