Newport Family Portraits | Harrell Family

The Harrell’s had reason to celebrate this week – their kids were in town! So it was time for Newport family portraits! As recent transplants to Newport, the Harrell family wanted their photos to have a distinctly Newport feel. They didn’t want their location to be confused with the Outer Banks or some other coastal area!

After considering Sachuest Wildlife Refuge and Second Beach, the Harrell’s settled on an area near Brenton Point State Park off of the iconic Ocean Drive. With its large rocky outcroppings stretching into the ocean, it provided a stunning backdrop for their Newport family portraits.

As the sun was setting we took a bunch of family portraits and played some games. The weather was gorgeous and we were all enjoying the sunset and the summery Newport vibes. Adding to the “ambiance” was a bunch of fisherman catching and cutting up freshly-caught fish on the rocks nearby. We had to be careful where we stepped because there were fish heads everywhere! It certainly made the experience more interesting.

One thing that I loved about meeting the Harrell family was seeing the great connection that they had with each other. You could see it in the way they interacted with each other and in the joy captured in the final images. I also was impressed when all four of them were able to say the same color at the same time with no preparation. Now that’s a family connection!
