Little Compton Photographer | Moore Family

One thing I love about being a Little Compton photographer is having the opportunity to meet wonderful families like the Moore Family! I had the pleasure of meeting three generations of the Moore family this past weekend, from grandkids to grandparents, and to take some family portraits in a location dear to their hearts. The Moore family chose a very special spot for their family portraits: their home off of Round Pond Road near Sakonnet Point. It has been in the family now for 72 years and holds many happy memories for them: spending family time together, playing in the surf, climbing the rocks, and making drip sand castles on the shoreline.

Despite growing up in Portsmouth, I didn’t spent much time in Little Compton as a child. And so I forgot how long it takes to drive there! Thirty minutes, which is an eternity if you are an Aquidneck Islander like me! But the ride was beautiful, and I loved every minute of it. On the way, I passed farms and historic homes, and when I arrived at Round Pond Road, I could see why the Moore family had stayed there so long. It was gorgeous! The beach had white sand, orange rocks, and great surf – it didn’t even look like Rhode Island!

When I arrived at the family’s home, we started by taking some portraits on the family’s back porch. Then we headed down to the beach. We took various combinations of family portraits and I loved how much the kids were getting into it! They loved doing family portraits on the beach! Especially when it involved climbing the lifeguard chair and the giant orange rocks on the other end of the beach. I think we ended up with a bunch of beautiful photos that caught the spirit of this sweet, silly family.
