Rhode Island Family Photography | The Rua’s

There’s nothing I love more than when a Rhode Island family photography session turns acquaintances into friends! This breezy, summer family photo session at Pheasant Hill Beach in Portsmouth, RI was no exception.

When Sam and her crew arrived, we got to know each other as we headed down for the rocky beach. We snapped a couple family photos down by the Mt. Hope Bridge, so we could get that iconic Rhode Island structure in the background. We moved off the beach and tried to find a more sheltered area because the wind kept making things interesting for us by blowing everyone’s hair around! It’s a good thing no one showed up in a hat because it would have disappeared into the water.

Then, we moved on to some individual shots of the kids. Mom was a little nervous they wouldn’t smile, but it didn’t take long for the kids to feel comfortable in front of the camera! Pretty soon they were laughing and joking with huge smiles on their faces. By the end of our session, the youngest was even coming up with his own ideas for posing and making requests for pictures. We really had a lot of fun!

As we walked back to the car, I captured some fun candid photos and sweet moments while the siblings played and goofed on each other, throwing rocks and giving piggyback rides. I love catching those little moments when a family’s true personality bubbles to the surface and their love for each other overflows. They are what make a Rhode Island family photography session special and unique!

Thanks for a great session, Rua Family. You were a joy to work with and I hope you enjoy your family photos. Next time, we’ll have to include your horses!
